Lyon and the silk workers in 1850

An homage to the silk workers, and to Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1752-1834), the mechanic and inventor of the first automatic device for the weaving loom.

We have re-created the ambiance of the life in La Croix-Rousse in the early XXth century !

The setting represents the lower hills of La Croix-Rousse where we can meet the active inhabitants of the neighbourhood : the grocer, the milkwoman, and also the manufacturer, the foreman...
Then, we get inside a silk workshop to share a moment of the hard family life of the silk workers.
